Taking part in the discussions will be Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Austria, Ukraine and Russia. These countries have sent official enquiries to the Ministry of Natural Resources and have been sent back related documents on environmental impact of the future plant. These countries are expected to consider the document in October and will sent their remarks and proposals to Belarus.
Alexander Andreev stressed that the EIA final version will take into account the opinion of the general public of Belarus and remarks and proposals of the countries concerned. “Only after that the EIA will be sent for state ecological examination,” he said.
Public hearings on the environmental impact assessment of the nuclear power plant are expected to take place in Ostrovets on 9 October.
