MINSK, March 10 (BelTA) – Construction of the nuclear power plant will begin in 2010, Mikhail Mikhadiuk, Deputy Energy Minister of Belarus, told a press conference on March 10.
Mikhail Mikhadiuk noted that the construction schedule of the future plant, the first energy unit of which should be ready by 2016, will be discussed with the Rosatom State Corporation. “If there are no problems, these terms are feasible. Six years are needed to construct one energy unit,” he added.
On his part, the First Vice-President of the Russian company Atomstroyexport Alexander Glukhov confirmed that the construction project of the Belarusian nuclear power plan can be finished within the set timeframe. “For the unit to be ready by 2016, the first portion of concrete should be cast in 2010,” he said. Glukhov also noted that special attention should be paid to the pre-project and project work . Thus, the pace of work should be quite fast to finish the construction by the deadline set by the customer," Alexander Glukhov said.
